Expressions of interest - writers, presenters and researchers

Social Education Victoria provides professional development for teachers of VCE Australian & Global Politics, VCE Sociology and F-10 Civics and Citizenship. This educational support consists of lectures, workshops, online material and published textbooks. SEV also produces the quarterly journal Ethos.
 
SEV welcomes expressions of interest from teachers, writers and other education professionals who might like to work with SEV on pieces of work as required.

Global Politics Unit 4 and GP Exam practical workshop

An interactive morning of workshops focused on Global Politics Unit 4 and the end of year exam. Come along to share your ideas, unit plans and questions in a morning of practical discussion and resource sharing. Two experienced teachers - Ron Anderson and Lou Spanos, will facilitate the first two sessions, while in the final session SEV will provide a comprehensive toolbox of resources ideas to assist teachers with the teaching of Unit 4 AOS 2.

*** New in 2013 - VCE Sociology Units 1&2: A Student Workbook ***

Written to complement the excellent textbook resource VCE Sociology Units 1&2, by Pheona Donohoe, this volume, by Fiona Gontier, provides students and teachers with a variety of useful activities and additional resources that are suitable for VCE Sociology Units 1&2.

The workbook seeks to break down some of the more complex aspects of the study and allow students to apply their knowledge in meaningful and diverse activities. SEV also offers online support as a part of your student workbook purchase. We have provided a variety of additional content online (accessible to users of this workbook via a username and password) that includes printable worksheets, textbook extracts and activities. *** New SEV Resource for 2013: Global Politics Resource Updates ***

These quarterly updates (one produced for each Area of Study) will help you and your students deal with the dynamic nature of Global Politics and ensure that your content and approaches are up to date.

• Issue One will be available early in Term 1.
• Issue Two will be available early in Term 2.
• Issues Three and Four will be available in Term 3.

Each edition will be specifically written for the Global Politics Study Design. They contain a mixture of up to date information, questions, activities and useful links and elaborate on relevant case studies. The updates will be sent as a PDF to be shared with students.

Prices: An edition of the Global Politics Resource Update will cost $25 individually. A subscription order for all four editions, placed in first term, will cost $80 (a saving of $20).

SEV supplementary resource material

Textbook links
SEV has also compiled a list of links used in the textbooks for the new VCE Study Designs. This will enable students and teachers to easily locate the online resources referred to in the books. The files are available as downloadable PDFs from the 2012-2016 VCE Study Design page.

Case studies
SEV has produced a series of small case studies for Australian and Global Politics to complement the recently published text books. These can be downloaded from the members section.

This material was researched and compiled by Tia Spanos, who worked as an intern at SEV in 2011 as part of her Bachelor of International Relations at La Trobe University. Any opinions expressed are not necessarily the views held by SEV. We thank Tia for her research and effort in compiling information that relates to topics explored in the VCE Australian and Global Politics Study design.
