We’re delighted to be delivering a program where teachers get to work together to learn about and implement strategies for student voice and agency. ‘Student empowerment – professional learning for teachers' is launching with an online short course in Term 4, with many events and resources to follow.

These are terms that we hear a lot – they’re prioritised in departmental policy documents and in documentation for independent and religious schools. That said, the meaning of student empowerment varies between teachers, schools, and communities; it’s clear that teachers want and need the opportunity to develop their understanding about this together in a shared forum.

If you are…

  • implementing student voice and agency projects and programs;
  • supporting student representatives or student leaders;
  • supporting social justice, allies, politics, or environment clubs;
  • coordinating student action teams or community action projects;
  • interested in learning more about student voice and agency; or
  • a learning specialist for student agency,

… then join this growing community (via Facebook), scroll down to register for our mailing list, short course sessions and recordings (dates for Term 2 2023 now available below!).

We’re busily putting together the program for this initiative, which will run until the end of 2023 – let us know what you’d like to see and help us shape the direction of this series by completing our brief community survey.

SEV gratefully acknowledges the support of the Victorian Government and the Department of Education and Training in the development of this initiative.
