School-based student empowerment professional learning

Are you excited to help your in-class and whole school student voice initiatives ‘speak’ to each other?

Have you been trying to get all the staff at your school on the same page about student empowerment, but haven’t been able to find the time or the expertise?

Student empowerment work, and student voice and agency, works best with a team approach – so in response to requests from our partner schools, we’re going on the road! We’re bringing customised student empowerment professional learning to you, at your school, to support a whole school approach to student voice and agency.

The process

This is a customised professional learning program where we work with your school to develop professional learning tailored to your needs.

  1. Someone from your team attends (or has attended) our Student Empowerment Professional Learning program – find out more here.?

  2. We meet with the school leadership team, voice/agency coordinator and/or learning specialist to understand your school’s context and see what the next steps are.

  3. You meet with your student leaders to share the plan and ask for feedback, additions and to see if this aligns with student input at your school.

  4. We visit your school for one or two collaborative professional learning sessions, with either a group or all staff, to support school leaders to facilitate student voice and agency professional learning.

  5. We meet with the organising team to debrief, reflect and plan the next steps.

What we can help with

  • developing a shared, whole school approach to student voice and agency
  • building stronger student-teacher partnerships
  • exploring ways of gathering, analysing and acting on student voice
  • establishing democratic decision-making processes at all levels of your school.
