Textbooks

Social Education Victoria produces a series of core textbooks and digital resources to support students in VCE Politics and VCE Sociology streams. All resources use contemporary case studies, sample questions and answers as well as many learning activities.

These texts address all key knowledge areas of each subjects' study design, and are used widely in classrooms across the Victoria. They have been written with teams of teachers experiences with each study, and include contemporary case studies, key concepts and activities to scafflold essential skills to help students thrive. They are written with both students and teachers in mind, with a pedagogical approach that emphasises mastering key concepts.

New study designs

New study designs commenced for both of our VCE subjects from 2024. Unlike VCE Sociology, the implementation of the Year 12 component of the new VCE Politics course was staggered by one year, with delivery commencing 2025.

Most SEV textbooks are available via your local textbook supplier.

This year, for all of our texts, we generally recommending that teachers order themselves a copy of new textbooks via their preferred booklist provider. We don’t supply gratis teacher copies – instead, we offer a bulk discount of 10% for orders of 10 or more textbooks, as well as our 25% discount for booksellers (some of the benefit of which we imagine they should pass on to you as a teacher, if you're booklisting the text with them).

Please note – if you’re hoping to secure an eBook copy of any of our texts (either as part of a ‘bundle’, or standalone), you will need to place an order with a bookseller who has an eBook platform (we don’t have one). We currently have eBook licensing agreements with the following providers, however if your school has a different preferred provider, the provider is very welcome to get in touch with us to discuss licensing.
